SUMMER CHOIR – we meet weekly at 10:15am in the Session House during July & August. We’ll look at fun & easy pieces of music with the emphasis on having fun! So, please feel free to come along and try out Summer Choir – a warm welcome awaits you!

TODAY – Tea and Coffee after the morning service is served by our Summer Holiday Club, and our bible reader is Tony Drysdale.

MEARNSKIRK SERVICE – We conduct worship at Mearnskirk House this afternoon. The service commences at 2pm, those taking part please be at Mearnskirk House for 1:50pm at the latest.

THANK YOU – Mary Montgomery would like to thank everyone who supported coffee after the Church service on Sunday 15th July. £33 was raised for the Lodging House Mission.

WILLIAMWOOD HISTORY BOOKLET – Stuart Wallace’s History of Williamwood Parish Church to celebrate the 75th Anniversary is on sale at the front of the church and in the large hall.

CHURCH GARDEN TEAM will carry on each Tuesday throughout the “Summer.” As usual it’d be helpful if you can bring your own tools. Main tasks at the moment are weeding & hedge trimming. We’d be happy to welcome new members. Forget the Gyms & Slimming classes, come & get fit for free. See Jimmy Craig for info.

ANNIVERSARY EXHIBITION – Could anyone who is prepared to help serve refreshments at our 75th Anniversary Exhibition at the end of September let Carole Lyons know. If possible a preference as to date would be greatly appreciated. That way Carole can pull together a rota to ensure we have adequate help throughout. (Dates: Friday 28th evening, Saturday 29th afternoon, Sunday 30th evening).

We’ll track on a map in the Large Hall how far we have travelled. Please look at the map on the back wall of the hall we’ve got quite a few postcards already. Please also leave a “Calling Card” with greetings from Williamwood in any church you visit or worship in while on holiday. These are available at the front door.

GIVINGS UPDATE
As at the end of June the Freewill Givings total was £42,695 against a budget of £45,000 a variance to budget of £2,305. On this basis we would expect to see an annual shortfall to budget of £4,610 given current givings level being maintained. Thank you for your continued support.

Tickets, £2.50 & children £1, are available from Kathy Craig or Jean Ferguson. Plant stalls, tombola, please come along. Indoor accommodation if the weather is unkind. GIVE BLOOD – Come along to the Give Blood Session and help save or improve the life of someone in hospital at the Clarkston Halls on Sunday 17th (12-3.30pm) or Monday 18th (2pm-3.45pm & 5.15pm-7.30pm).

NEW MEMBERS – next week we welcome three new members into the fellowship of Williamwood Parish Church. Please do pray for them as they make this public profession of Faith in their journey towards Church Membership.

MEMBERSHIP CLASS – It is Mr McLachlan’s intention to start a crash course on Church membership starting next Sunday evening at 5pm in the vestry. This class will last for one hour and will run for three weeks. Anyone within your family or circle of friends is warmly invited to come along without obligation and find out what Church Membership involves. The class will be based on the five points of membership viz. WORSHIP, PRAYER, INVOLVEMENT, GIVING & LEARNING. This class is also open to existing Church members who wish to use it as a refresher course. Please speak to Mr McLachlan as soon as possible if you wish further information.

MEARNSKIRK HOSPITAL – those who volunteered to take part in the short act of worship at Mearnskirk Hospital should note our first duty is next Sunday.

FROM THE TREASURER – GIVINGS UPDATE
As at the end of April Givings totalled £28,386 against a four month budget of £30,000 leaving a shortfall to date of £1,614. Thanks to everyone for their continued support.

CHRISTIAN AID – Thank you to everyone who assisted with the recent ‘house-to-house’ collection, the Boys’ Brigade Company Section who delivered the empty envelopes and the members of the congregation who collected the filled envelopes. The amount we raised was £1,327 – slightly down on last year (£1,344) but still a very good result. Thanks again – Anne & Ross.

GUILD – Echo Meeting takes place on Thursday 7th June at 7.30pm in Queens Park Church. Please contact Marion at 638 5138 if you wish to go.

BUSBY CHURCH are hosting a 20th Anniversary Organ recital on Friday 8th June at 7:30pm. All invited to come along and listen to this free recital. The evening will finish with refreshments in the hall.

OUR COMMISION FOR 2012 – Go forth from our Church, seek out Christ wherever he may be found, and share the good news with all who bear him no ill will. Bring light to those in thick darkness, a voice to those no one speaks for, and hope to those no one cares for. May God make you a sharer in the promised light, may Christ Jesus fill you with his sense of what is right and may the Holy Spirit be to you like rain that gives life to the fertile earth. We pray for peace and love, to serve the Lord.

WILLIAMWOOD SINGERS – resumes on today (Sunday 15th January) at 6pm in the Session House.

SESSION MEETING – the Session will meet next at 7:30pm on Wednesday 18th January in the Session House.

CHRISTIAN UNITY – the annual exchange of pulpits takes place next week (Sunday 22nd January) when we welcome Rev Tom Nelson of Netherlee Parish Church to conduct worship at Williamwood.

BB PARENTS’ ASSOCIATION – Massive thanks to all who helped with our recent fund-raiser. Whether you bought a ticket, sold a ticket or donated to the hamper, thank-you! We raised just over £830.

The BB also have a ‘limited edition’ 2012 Tea Towel for sale which has been specially made to mark our 75th anniversary year. These are available today from Mark Gordon, for the fantastic price of £3.50, in the Large Hall.

THE GUILD – Could anyone from the Guild attend the World Day of Prayer meeting in St Joseph’s Church hall, this Tuesday 17th January at 7.30pm? If this is possible could they please contact Moira Yeoman.

CHURCH FLOWERS – The rota for the delivery of flowers for the months of January and February is now available in the vestibule.

FAIR TRADE STALL –Sunday 5th February after morning worship.

WILLIAMWOOD CHURCH FAMILY CEILIDH in Clarkston Tennis and Bowling Club, Eastwoodmains Road at 7.30pm on Saturday 25 February. As usual a great night is promised for all the family. Tickets on sale from next week (after Church in large hall or see Events Committee). Hope to see you there. (Please note attendance numbers need to be monitored due to hall restrictions so pre-purchased ticket will be required). Any donations for lucky ticket draw on the night gratefully received by any member of the Events Committee; Carole Lyons, Betty Patrick, Jean Nimmo, Lillian Broadly, Norrie Dallas, Mary Montgomery, Maisie McFarlane).

LOCAL COMMUNITY CHOIR – if you are interested in being part of a local community choir please let Alan Mathew know. This is just a project in its infancy and more details will become known as time progresses.
