The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name; Your kingdom come, your will be done; on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread. Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power and the glory are yours now and forever. Amen

WELCOME TO OUR WORSHIP TODAY – if you are a visitor please sign our visitor’s book in the vestibule. Our church has something for all ages and activities go on throughout the week.
We especially welcome the children and teachers of our Sunday School as they present their Nativity Story and all the family members who have come to support and encourage – you are welcome in our midst.
Tea and coffee are served in the hall after this service – you are invited to join us in friendship and fellowship. Large print copies of the order of service are available from the duty team should you need one.

TODAY’S PRAYER – Eternal God, as Mary waited for the birth of your Son, so we wait for his coming in glory; bring us through the birth pangs of this present age to see, with her, our great salvation in Jesus Christ our Lord. AMEN.

CHRISTMAS & NEW YEAR SERVICES
CAROLS BY CANDLELIGHT – today at 4:00pm – A Family Service of favourite Carols by Candlelight (or torch). Come along, sing carols and enjoy a Festive afternoon.
CHRISTMAS EVE SERVICES
6:00pm – Carols round the Crib – children visit the crib and help the minister tell the story of Jesus’ birth
11:15pm – Carol Singing
11:30pm – The Watch night Service – tea, coffee and mince pies afterwards!
CHRISTMAS DAY – an informal service at 10:00am
NEW YEARS DAY – morning worship at 11:00am

JANUARY LIFE & WORK AND INSPIRE – these are available in the usual places for distributors and those who collect their own copies.

A WARM WELCOME TO EVERYONE to our service this morning. Our church has something for all ages and activities go on throughout the week. Please join us in the large hall afterwards for tea, coffee and conversation, served by the Printing Group.

A PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP – Lord God, Your love for us is everlasting and the signs of Your grace fill us in this time of prayerful waiting. In the stillness of this moment, we wait, once more, upon You, our Lord and our God. Amen.

MUSIC MAKERS – We meet in the Church for half an hour today for boys & girls in P1-P7, from 12:15-12:45.
LIFE & WORK – the October issue of Life and Work is now available, for subscribers and distributors, in the usual places.

ORGAN ANNIVERSARY ― this Saturday at 3pm with Alan Mathew playing for an Organ Recital and next Sunday at 7pm for a Songs of Praise Service. PLEASE DO TRY AND COME ALONG AND SUPPORT THESE EVENTS.

CHRISTIAN AID – Sponsored Swim – Saturday 1 October at Eastwood Baths with Sponsor forms and more information from Ross McGhee (638-4883) or Anne Clark (644-4476). Swimmers can complete up to 20 lengths of the pool anytime between 5:30pm and 7:30pm.

BACK TO CHURCH SUNDAY – a national initiative that Williamwood are taking part in on Sunday 2 October. We have the possibility to “double” our congregation that day. Quite simply invite one person to Church, bring them along and make them feel welcome. You could invite your neighbour, a friend, or someone who’s not been to church for a while.

HARVEST THANKSGIVING – Members of the congregation wishing to donate harvest goods for the benefit of the needy of Glasgow are invited to bring them along to the CHURCH on Saturday 8 October between 10.30am -12pm where they will be gratefully received.

Items which will be useful are: CANNED – Soup, Meat, Fish, Veg, Puddings, Fruit, Custards, Pastas; DRIED – Breakfast cereal, soup, biscuits, Fruit, Rice, Sugar, Pastas, Oats; DRINKS – Tea, Coffee, Fruit juice; OTHERS – Preservatives, Toiletries. NO OUT OF DATE OR HOMEMADE GOODS PLEASE. The centres we are supporting this year are Kirkhaven, Talbot Association and the Wayside Centre. Thank you for your continued support, Helen McKenzie

SUNDAY 9TH OCTOBER – morning worship at 11am will be our Harvest Service.

FAIR TRADE -The monthly opportunity to purchase goods from our “First Sunday Stall” will be in the hall next week. Please pop along and have a browse.

WILLIAMWOOD MUSIC – if you would like to be part of a developing Music Group it’s not too late! Let Alan know and he’ll bring you up to speed. We meet next – with instruments & singers – on Sunday 9th October following the morning service. Remember a packed lunch!

CLARKSTON DISASTER – Clarkston Churches Together will hold a service in October at Greenbank Church to commemorate the 40th anniversary. An act of remembrance will also take place on Friday 21 October at Clarkston Toll. If anyone wants to share memories or to have an input in the services please contact Mr Reid.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING – Ladies (and gents), don’t rush to do all your Christmas Shopping too early!!! Events and Young Woman’s Group are holding a Shopping evening in the church halls on Tuesday 8th November. There will be a great variety of stalls (20 confirmed to date) as well as refreshments and a wee bit pampering. If anyone would like a table for selling their wares on the evening or have a contact who would like a table please see Carole Lyons

CHURCH GARDEN – For the next couple of months we will “cut back” and meet on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays to tend to the Church Gardens – Thanks, Jimmy Craig.

DOORS OPEN – Looking for Peace? Looking for a quiet space, time to pray, or a friendly chat over a cuppa? Our Church and Iona Chapel are open for visitors each weekday morning from 10 o’clock until 11:45am.
For Baptisms (whatever your age), Weddings, joining the Church and for anyone who needs a visit please contact the manse (571 7949). Mr Reid’s day off is Monday.
