A WARM WELCOME TO CHURCH TODAY. If you’re a visitor please sign our visitor’s book in the vestibule. Our church has something for all ages & activities go on throughout the week. PASTORAL COVER – during Mr Reid’s absence I shall be grateful if members of the congregation and elders could advise me as quickly as possible, by telephone or email, of any illness or pastoral visits requiring to be made and also of people who may be in hospital. VISITING ORGANST – we extend a very warm welcome to Paul Morrison, who is playing for us today during Alan’s leave.

TODAY – Tea & coffee after church is served by the Church Choir; and our Bible reader is Moira Yeoman.

SUNDAY SCHOOL TRIP – Our children enjoyed a short act of worship at 10am today before heading off on the buses to Kelburn Park, near Fairlie. We hope that they have an enjoyable and fun day as they mark the end of the session.

THE BB has a ‘limited edition’ 2012 Tea Towel for sale – specially made to mark our 75th anniversary and is available from Mark Gordon, at £3.50, in the Hall.

CHRISTIAN AID – Thank you to everyone who assisted with the recent ‘house-to-house’ collection, the Boys’ Brigade Company Section who delivered the empty envelopes and the members of the congregation who collected the filled envelopes. The amount we raised was £1,327 – slightly down on last year (£1,344) but still a very good result. Thanks again – Anne & Ross.

CONCERT FOR KWENDERANA – Orchestral Concert of Popular Classics conducted by Ross Gunning in Greenbank Church tonight at 7pm. Tickets £5 from Fiona Gunning (577 5761). Proceeds to the Kwenderana Partnership Group to help the people of Ekwendeni, Malawi.

JUBILEE – this Saturday at 7:30pm we celebrate the Jubilees of Queen Elizabeth II and Williamwood Parish Church. Jubilee Choir takes part, Laurence Caldecote plays the organ, & Steven McKnight plays trumpet. Music includes Walton’s “Crown Imperial”, Mozart’s Coronation Mass “Gloria”, Handel’s triumphant “Zadok the Priest”, Stanford’s “Jubilate” in B flat, joyful hymns from Royal Occasions and from the Ceremony when our Church’s Foundation Stone was laid.

NEXT SUNDAY – Sacrament of Baptism at 11am service. Our Bible reader is Ross Johnston. Tea and Coffee is served by the Young Woman’s Group.

SUMMER CHOIR commences next Sunday at 10:15am in the Session House, meeting weekly during June, July & August. We’ll look at fun & easy pieces of music with the emphasis on having fun! So, please feel free to come along and try out Summer Choir – a warm welcome awaits you!

GUILD – Echo Meeting takes place on Thursday 7th June at 7.30pm in Queens Park Church. Please contact Marion at 638 5138 if you wish to go.

COMMUNION – Sunday 10th June at 11am we have our Formal Summer Communion. Informal communion takes place at 3pm in the Church.

GARDEN TEA – Elizabeth Purvis & friends are hosting a Garden Tea in aid of the Gillian Purvis Trust on Saturday 16 June, 2-5pm, at 34 Montgomery St, Eaglesham. Tickets £2.50 children £1, available from Kathy Craig or Jean Ferguson. Plant stall, tombola, please come along. Indoor accommodation if the weather is unkind. NEW MEMBERS – we welcome three new members into the fellowship of Williamwood Parish Church on Sunday 17th June. Please do pray for them as they make this public profession of Faith in their journey towards Church Membership.

MEARNSKIRK HOSPITAL – those who volunteered to take part in the short act of worship at Mearnskirk Hospital should note our first duty is 17th June.

POST CARDS TO WILLIAMWOOD – in our 75th year as you travel on holiday in the UK or abroad please send a postcard to your Church Family here at Williamwood. We’ll track on a map in the Large Hall how far we have travelled. Please also leave a “Calling Card” with greetings from Williamwood in any church you visit or worship in while on holiday. These are available at the front door.

THE GUILD – next meeting is on Tuesday at 7:30pm with Rebecca Perry, a speaker from Mission Aviation Fellowship (Guild Project) – All most welcome.

CLARKSTON DISASTER – Clarkston Churches Together will hold a service next Sunday at 2pm in Greenbank Church to commemorate the 40th anniversary. The community of Clarkston is invited to remember in this special service.

POPPIES – poppy boxes are available at the main vestibule and in the halls for those wishing to purchase poppies and donate to the annual poppy appeal.

WILLIAMWOOD’S GOT TALENT – Saturday 19th November is fast approaching. Participants should notify Carole, Alan or Ross by 26th October. For help in lighting/sound speak to Ross in the first instance. If you’re not taking part you are therefore part of the audience – you will decide the winner so keep the date free!

THOMAS CHALMERS LECTURE – Sunday 23 October at 3pm in the “Tron Theatre Complex”, Argyle Street. Email davidcjackson22@hotmail.com if you intend to attend this event as spaces are limited. More details on notice boards.

CHURCH GARDEN – For the next couple of months we will “cut back” and meet on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays to tend to the Church Gardens – Thanks, Jimmy Craig.

WILLIAMWOOD MUSIC – if you would like to be part of a developing Music Group it’s not too late! Just let Alan know of your interest. We meet on Sunday 30th after church – with instruments & singers!

BBC @ GIFFNOCK SOUTH – The BBC wants to record their Remembrance Sunday Service at Giffnock South on Sunday 30th October at 2.30pm to be then broadcast on Sunday 13th November. To be a success they need a large congregation which is essential. An invitation has been given for anyone who wants to come along to note the date and time.

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING – Ladies (and gents), don’t rush to do all your Christmas Shopping too early!!! Events and Young Woman’s Group are holding a Shopping evening in the church halls on Tuesday 8th November. There will be a great variety of stalls (20 confirmed to date) as well as refreshments and a wee bit pampering. If anyone would like a table for selling their wares on the evening or have a contact who would like a table please see Carole Lyons

CLOCK’S MOVE TO GMT- a reminder that our clocks and watches are put back one hour at 2am on Sunday 30th October – enjoy that extra hour in bed!

THE ARMED MAN – our singers make a return to Williamwood Church on Saturday 5th November at 7:30pm presenting the Armed Man raising much needed funds for The Erskine Hospital. Please support by your attendance there.

CHRISTIAN AID – Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent Sponsored Swim at Eastwood Baths as well as to everyone who sponsored them. We were one of 7 local Churches taking part and had 15 swimmers out of a total of 55. The amount raised will be intimated in the next edition of Inspire.

CHURCH NOTICE BOARDS – New Notice Boards have been installed in the Vardar Avenue Corridor and Seres Road Vestibule. These are for the use of Church Organisations & Organisations who use our premises. All other literature should be given to the Session Clerk or Minister. No literature should be placed on glass doors or windows.

DOORS OPEN – Looking for Peace? Looking for a quiet space, time to pray, or a friendly chat over a cuppa?

Our Church and Iona Chapel are open for visitors each weekday morning from 10 o’clock until 11:45am.
For Baptisms (whatever your age), Weddings, joining the Church and for anyone who needs a visit please contact the manse. Mr Reid’s day off is Monday.
