A WARM WELCOME TO CHURCH TODAY. If you’re a visitor please sign our visitor’s book in the vestibule. Our church has something for all ages & activities go on throughout the week. Please join us in the Hall after this service where tea/coffee is served. Large print bulletins are available from the duty team.

PASTORAL COVER – during Mr Reid’s absence I shall be grateful if members of the congregation and elders could advise me as quickly as possible, by telephone or email, of any illness or pastoral visits requiring to be made and also of people who may be in hospital. SUMMER CHOIR starts today at 10:15am in the Session House, meeting weekly during June, July & August. We’ll look at fun & easy pieces of music with the emphasis on having fun! So, please feel free to come along and try out Summer Choir – a warm welcome awaits you!

LIFE & WORK AND INSPIRE – The June issue of Life & Work and the Summer edition of “Inspire” is available for collectors and distributors in the usual places.

THE BB has a ‘limited edition’ 2012 Tea Towel for sale – specially made to mark our 75th anniversary and is available from Mark Gordon, at £3.50, in the Hall.

CHRISTIAN AID – Thank you to everyone who assisted with the recent ‘house-to-house’ collection, the Boys’ Brigade Company Section who delivered the empty envelopes and the members of the congregation who collected the filled envelopes. The amount we raised was £1,327 – slightly down on last year (£1,344) but still a very good result. Thanks again – Anne & Ross.

GUILD – Echo Meeting takes place on Thursday 7th June at 7.30pm in Queens Park Church. Please contact Marion at 638 5138 if you wish to go.

BUSBY CHURCH are hosting a 20th Anniversary Organ recital on Friday 8th June at 7:30pm. All invited to come along and listen to this free recital. The evening will finish with refreshments in the hall.

NEXT SUNDAY – we celebrate Holy Communion at the 11am and 3pm services. Our Bible reader is Doreen Lynas. Tea and Coffee after the service is served in aid of the BB Camp Fund. Our visiting organist will be Duncan Sinclair.

GARDEN TEA – Elizabeth Purvis & friends are hosting a Garden Tea in aid of the Gillian Purvis Trust on Saturday 16 June, 2-5pm, at 34 Montgomery St, Eaglesham. Tickets, £2.50 & children £1, are available from Kathy Craig or Jean Ferguson. Plant stalls, tombola, please come along. Indoor accommodation if the weather is unkind. NEW MEMBERS – we welcome three new members into the fellowship of Williamwood Parish Church on Sunday 17th June. Please do pray for them as they make this public profession of Faith in their journey towards Church Membership.

MEARNSKIRK HOSPITAL – those who volunteered to take part in the short act of worship at Mearnskirk Hospital should note our first duty is 17th June.

DIAMOND JUBILEE EXHIBITION – a meeting of all organisations taking part in the Exhibition (28th, 29th & 30th September) should meet on Monday 18th June at 7:30pm in the Church Hall.

POST CARDS TO WILLIAMWOOD – in our 75th year as you travel on holiday in the UK or abroad please send a postcard to your Church Family here at Williamwood. We’ll track on a map in the Large Hall how far we have travelled. Please also leave a “Calling Card” with greetings from Williamwood in any church you visit or worship in while on holiday. These are available at the front door.

Large print copies of the order of service are available from the door stewards. If you’re a visitor, please sign our Visitors Book in the Vestibule – we’d love to get to know you! Please join us in the large hall afterwards for tea, coffee and conversation, served by members of the Church Choir.

A PRAYER BEFORE WORSHIP – Creator God, provider of all we bring our thanks today. And we bless each other that the beauty of this world and the love that created it might be expressed though our lives and be a blessing to others now and always AMEN.

THANK YOU! ― from Moira Yeoman for your support last Sunday after church when £60 was raised at tea & coffee for Church House Youth Project, and from Alan Mathew for your support at last week’s organ recital and evening service – over the two days almost £250 was raised for our Music Fund.

CHRISTIAN AID – Thank you to everyone who took part in the recent Sponsored Swim at Eastwood Baths as well as to everyone who sponsored them. We were one of 7 local Churches taking part and had 15 swimmers out of a total of 55. The amount raised will be intimated in the next edition of Inspire.

WILLIAMWOOD MUSIC – if you would like to be part of a developing Music Group it’s not too late! Just let Alan know of your interest. We meet today after church – with instruments & singers!
INFORMAL COMMUNION – our relaxed and friendly service takes place this afternoon at 3 o’clock in the Chancel – all are welcome.

CLARKSTON DISASTER – Clarkston Churches Together will hold a service on Sunday 23rd October at 2pm in Greenbank Church to commemorate the 40th anniversary. An act of remembrance will also take place on Friday 21 October at Clarkston Toll.

MINISTER’S HOLIDAY – Mr Reid will be on holiday from 11th-25th October. Anyone requiring the services of a Minister should contact Margaret Robertson in the first instance – 638-5521, or margaretctrobertson@gmail.com

CHURCH GARDEN – For the next couple of months we will “cut back” and meet on the 2nd & 4th Tuesdays to tend to the Church Gardens – Thanks, Jimmy Craig.

WILLIAMWOOD’S GOT TALENT – Saturday 19th November is fast approaching. Participants should notify Carole, Alan or Ross by 26th October. For help in lighting/sound speak to Ross in the first instance. If you’re not taking part you are therefore part of the audience – you will decide the winner so keep the date free!

CHRISTMAS SHOPPING – Ladies (and gents), don’t rush to do all your Christmas Shopping too early!!! Events and Young Woman’s Group are holding a Shopping evening in the church halls on Tuesday 8th November. There will be a great variety of stalls (20 confirmed to date) as well as refreshments and a wee bit pampering. If anyone would like a table for selling their wares on the evening or have a contact who would like a table please see Carole Lyons

BBC @ GIFFNOCK SOUTH – The BBC wants to record their Remembrance Sunday Service at Giffnock South on Sunday 30th October at 2.30pm to be then broadcast on Sunday 13th November. To be a success they need a large congregation which is essential. An invitation has been given for anyone who wants to come along to note the date and time.

CLOCK’S MOVE TO GMT- a reminder that our clocks and watches are put back one hour at 2am on Sunday 30th October.

CHURCH NOTICE BOARDS – New Notice Boards have been installed in the Vardar Avenue Corridor and Seres Road Vestibule. These are for the use of Church Organisations & Organisations who use our premises. All other literature should be given to the Session Clerk or Minister. Please note: no literature should be placed on glass doors or windows.

DOORS OPEN – Looking for Peace? Looking for a quiet space, time to pray, or a friendly chat over a cuppa? Our Church and Iona Chapel are open for visitors each weekday morning from 10 o’clock until 11:45am.

MUSIC MAKERS – We meet in the Church for half an hour today for boys & girls in P1-P7, from 12:15-12:45. Hopefully singing at Harvest next week too!

ORGAN ANNIVERSARY ― this evening at 7pm for a Songs of Praise & Worship Service (refreshments afterwards!) led by our church choir and visitors. Choir note: rehearsal 4pm-6pm. PLEASE DO TRY AND COME ALONG AND SUPPORT TONIGHT’S SERVICE.

FAIR TRADE -The monthly opportunity to purchase goods from our “First Sunday Stall” takes place today in the hall. Please pop along and have a browse.

LIFE & WORK – the October issue of Life and Work is now available, for subscribers and distributors, in the usual places.

GUILD – resumes this week, on Tuesday, at 7:30pm with a Songs of Praise and Communion. As we are meeting in the Church, please enter via Vardar Ave door.

PRAYER CIRCLE –we meet on Wednesday 5th October at 7:15pm. Please meet initially in the Vardar Ave corridor.

HARVEST THANKSGIVING DONATIONS – Members of the congregation wishing to donate harvest goods for the benefit of the needy of Glasgow are invited to bring them along to the CHURCH on Saturday 8 October between 10.30am -12pm where they will be gratefully received. Items which will be useful are: CANNED – Soup, Meat, Fish, Veg, Puddings, Fruit, Custards, Pastas; DRIED – Breakfast cereal, soup, biscuits, Fruit, Rice, Sugar, Pastas, Oats; DRINKS – Tea, Coffee, Fruit juice; OTHERS – Preservatives, Toiletries.
